How I Started

Since I could read music before I could read words, music is my first read language. Thankful to have studied with the fabulous pianist Jeffrey Chappell while in High School and and Dr. Bela Ngay and Dr Andre Rangel while in college at the Catholic University of America. Summers were spent at the  Brevard Music Center, Brevard North Carolina and the International Workshops in Graz. Austria. Performing as a solo and collaborative pianist was a rewarding experience in different venues and formats. I began student teaching in High School has always been an area in which to constantly learn and grow.

Teaching Experience

As an adjunct professor at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.,  challenged me to develop creative ways of communicating about music to students of all ages and abilities.

From 2005 - 2010, I was the music teacher at the Academy of Christian Education where I developed the curriculum for Preschool through 6th grade for general music education while writing, directing and producing 2 programs a year involving more than 200 students with singing, dance and acting. A partner in a studio in McLean for 27 years, I developed a program encompassing creative and fun ways to incorporate Theory, Sight Reading, Performance opportunities and Group Classes for all ages that I brought to Ashburn for the opening of Moore Music in January 2004. I have also been a contributing writer for Keyboard Companion.

As a member of the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association, where I chair several events, and the America College of Musicians, my students have the opportunity to participate in a great variety of festivals and competitions as well as Guild Auditions.
